Description

  • Latin Name: Asparagus officinalis, UC 157. “Farmer’s Favorite”
  • Zones: 4–10
  • Spacing/Depth:18/6"(top of crown to soil surface)
  • Height/Spread: 4–5'/1–3'
  • Facts of note: Developed at UC Riverside. Is a Hybrid of M120 & F109. Known for very high yield, useful variety that is suitable to growth in warmer areas with mild winters. Smooth green spears, tight tipped, non stringy. The plant has tall feathery, graceful stems. Plants may take up to 2-3 years to come to full production but can bear for 15-20 years. Disease resistant. Open pollinated. Harvest March to June.

Note: Do not be alarmed if there is small amounts of bluish-white mold on your rootstock, this is absolutely normal. It occurs from the cold storage process used to keep the plants dormant. This mold can be wiped off and will not affect the health of the plant. However, if the plants are rotten and/or mushy, please give us a call.

Guarantee

Limited Guarantee for Dormant Trees & Plants

Claim Deadline is June 1st (Claims placed after June 1st will be denied.)

What We Guarantee
Our only guarantee is that your dormant tree/plant will arrive in good, viable condition and will leaf out by May 15th (historically 98% of our trees do). This guarantee is only available to customers who purchased their tree/plant directly from us.

What We Cannot Guarantee
We cannot guarantee that your tree/plant remains alive & healthy, or bears fruit, as there are too many variables beyond our control in order to do so (i.e. soil preparation, planting, fertilization, weed & pest control, adequate irrigation and/or drainage, chill hours, compatible hardiness for your zone, proper choice of pollinator, etc).

How to Request a Credit
If your tree/plant does not leaf out by May 15th, please contact us as soon as possible (but no later than June 1st) and we will issue you a credit (not a refund) for the purchase price of your tree/plant (excluding shipping).*

(*) We reserve the right to not issue credit for items already replaced. We also reserve the right to require photographic evidence of the condition of your tree/plant and/or a scratch test. The scratch test consists of checking for green under the bark a few inches over the graft (please watch our video titled Bare Root (Dormant) Warranty for more information on this simple procedure). If the scratch test reveals a brown cambium, the tree/plant is dead or dying.
