Kiln-dried bloodmeal is a rendering industry by-product and has been used for many years by organic growers as a natural, mid-release source of 14%N plus trace minerals. Use 1000-2000 lb/acre or 5-10 lb/100 sq ft, prior to planting, or side-dress.
I have been adding blood meal to both my fall and summer veggie beds this last year. It is a great source of nitrogen that I add prior to planting. It seems to be an effective enough fertilizer for the season producing a quality crop with only the initial application.Review by Linnie (on 10/3/12)
