The components you need for the kit you want

Hydroponic Grow Lights

Select a convertible kit: If you want a convertible system that can run either HPS (high pressure sodium) or MH (metal halide) bulbs, simply choose one of our four complete systems with convertible ballasts. Just decide if you want to run a 400 Watt or a 1000 Watt system. Then decide whether you want the standard HPS or MH bulbs, or upgrade to one or both of the premium more complete spectrum bulbs by Hortilux or Agrosun.

Build your own fixed or convertible system: If you want to build your own system with either HPS or MH bulbs, but not both, just put together the system that best meets your needs using the chart on the following page. Each component you need is listed by part number and price, Just follow the steps below to build your custom system.

Flowering vs Vegetative Growth: In considering what type of light system is for you, keep in mind that plants utilize different light wavelengths at various growth stages, and generally, it’s best to use high pressure sodium (HPS) for flowering and metal halide (MH) for vegetative growth.

STEP 1: SELECT ONE REFLECTOR
Select a reflector to direct light onto your growing plants. We offer the high quality cost effective Xtrasun which offers a 5 yr warranty on its highly reflective European specular aluminum lining. Or choose the top of the line Daystar, with its patented cool running double wall design and its 25 yr warranty on its 99.85% pure 95% reflective European aluminum lining. Both brands come with a built in 15’ cord, removable lens and built in 6” flanges ready for optional fan cooling (fan sold separately).

STEP 2: SELECT ONE BALLAST
Ballasts convert voltages necessary to run the grow lights. We feature the Xtrasun series, which offers very reliable units at value prices. They come with a 5 yr warranty and can operate on either 120v or 240v (an optional cord is required to run it at 240v). The Xtrasun Convertible ballast offers the flexibility of using halide or sodium in one ballast. High end digital ballasts by Lumatek and Powerhouse are also available.

STEP 3: CHOOSE A BULB
Select the bulb type and wattage according to your growing needs. The standard High Pressure Sodium (HPS), with its red spectrum, is for flowering and Metal Halide (MH), with its mostly blue spectrum, is for vegetative growth. There are two high end bulbs that offer enhanced spectrums.
The Eye Hortilux super HPS enhanced spectrum bulb provides 17% more total energy and 25% more energy in the violet, blue and green spectrum than standard HPS bulbs, thus promoting growth, as well as flowering. The Agrosun Gold MH provides 38% more light in the red spectrum than regular MH bulbs, making it the best all purpose growth and flowering/ fruiting light available.

STEP 4: ADD ACCESSORIES
To maximize light, attach reflective mylar to your grow room walls to increase light distribution. Encourage productive growth with consistent hours of light by using a timer. We offer a simple 15 Amp timer with 15 minute on/off capability (GP796) as well as a digital timer which you can program up to 8 on/offs per day with a 1 minute on/off capability (GP797).
