Description

Arctium lappa Biennial. Harvest this highly nutritive, blood cleansing and alterative root during the first growing season or at latest in the dormant period after first season of growth. Root is delicious, similar sweetness to carrots, with an earthy flavor.

  • In spring, prepare a seedbed, make a shallow furrow and sow the seeds 1/2" deep and about 2" apart. Tamp firmly and keep evenly moist until germination. About 1 week.
  • Thin plants 3-6" apart.
  • Thrives in deeply spaded garden soil in the sun to part shade.
  • Harvest the roots the first season

Soil & Water:Prefers deeply spaded garden soil in full sun or part shade. Give root plenty of room to grow downward.
