Description

Prunella vulgaris Heal-All, Heart-of-the-Earth, Self Heal. Creeping herbaceous perennial, native to Europe. In the garden or among the grasses on the lawn, a floral focal point or a surprising splash of color that gladdens the heart. The most useful of remedies for treating open sores of the oral mucosa. Anti-herpes. The entire plant is active, but the flowers are most useful. Pick at full flowering glory and dry in the shade, then set aside for making tea.

We've found that the tea is an excellent treatment for herpes lesions, drying them and killing the virus, clearing the sore very quickly, alleviating pain and assuaging the tissues with a gentle mucilage.

  • Flowers purple from 6 inches to 18 inches, depending on how much compost is used and how much competition is experienced from grasses.

Certified Organic, 50 seeds/pkt.

Planting & Care

Soil & Water: The plant prefers full sun to shade and moist soils. If you bump them up with organic compost, they can be prolific and stunning.

Planting & Growing:Sow seed in early spring or cold-condition in moist medium in the refrigerator (not the freezer) for a week or two before sowing in warm soil. Really a very easy plant to start and to grow. Thin or transplant to 6" apart.

Harvesting & Storage: The entire plant is active, but the flowers are most useful and should be picked right before bloom opens. Pick at full flowering glory and dry in the shade, then set aside for making tea.
