Planting & Care

Soil & Water: Plant prefers full sun, rich, fertile soil, and is fairly drought tolerant. Seed will not emerge if there is any crusting of soil and it is planted very shallow so moisture must be monitored.

Planting & Growing: Sow in spring, directly in the garden. Prepare a fine seed bed, sprinkle in seeds about 2" apart, barely cover and keep evenly moist. Germinates in about 1 week. Thin to 6" between plants and cultivate frequently.

Harvesting & Storage:Once most of the seed pods have turned green, collect and place in a paper sack to dry. Once completely dry, break pods open to release seeds. Use a low fan to blow off chaff.
