    Planting & Care

    Soil & Water:Plant thrives in well-drained soil in sun to part shade and relishes frequent watering.

    Planting & Growing: In the spring, sow seed in pots or directly in the garden. Light dependent germinator best sown by pressing seed into surface or barely covering with soil and keeping evenly moist and in the light. Germination takes 10-16 days. Young leaves look very different than mature leaves. Thin or transplant 1-2 feet apart. Flower heads should be removed during growing season to help rhizome develop for harvest.

    Harvesting & Storage:Harvest rhizome in the fall.
