Hippeastrum These South African natives have been cultivated for several hundred years. They are ideal plants for beginners. The huge bulbs produce stems which grow rapidly to 24", creating as many as 5 glorious flowers each. Indoors, they will bloom in time for Christmas if started by mid-October. They make a big hit as holiday gifts for friends or neighbors. Outdoors, in Zones 8-11, they bloom in May. With proper care, potted or outdoor bulbs will bloom for years. 26-28 cm. One bulb.
