Use Kenebec Whites for boiling of mashing. Smooth white skin, smooth-textured white flesh, shallow eyes make for easy washing and peeling. Resistant to mosaic, late blight and net necrosis. Good keeper. Best in the north. Mid-season variety (80+ days).
We offer certified organic, certified seed potatoes (USDA Organic, certified seed by the state of Colorado) and conventionally grown (commercial) seed potatoes (certified seed potato by the state of Washington). Seed potatoes are non-taxable.
Certified Seed Potato is seed certified by the State where it was grown and must meet that state's standards for minimal incidence of disease. Certifying seed is unrelated to whether the seed is organic or conventionally grown.
Certified Organic Potato is certified to be organic by a third party accredited organization to meet the USDA's National Organic Program (NOP) regulations. Certified organic has nothing to do with whether the seed is certified seed potato, although ours are both.
Calculating Seed Quantity: One pound of potatoes will plant a row approximately 8' long with seed pieces spaced at 8"-12" apart. Plan on 1200 lbs/acre (600 lbs of fingerlings) when rows are spaced 36" apart with 12" between plants. Under optimal conditions, you can expect to harvest 10 lbs-15 lbs of potatoes for every pound planted. Variety descriptions indicate estimated days to harvest.
When to Plant: Fall-planted spuds can produce outstanding yields by May. However, if your area experiences hard winters (Zones 1-7) or you tend to have long, wet spring seasons where rot might be a problem, plant potatoes in spring.
