Popular because it is one of the hardiest and because it bears both male and female flowers, allowing for easy fruit production. Fuzzless fruit, no need to peel. Smaller than fuzzy kiwi, often sweeter. High in vitamin C. New growth tender to frost, but plant recovers quickly. 1-2' standard tree, self-fruitful. Zones 4-9. (300 chill hours)
Originally from China, ripens in late summer and is rich in vitamin C. Vigorous, ornamental vines must be supported and can be grown over arbors, fences, or walls. Plant 10 feet apart in full sun in regular, well-drained garden soil. Mostly pest-free, prune occasionally to keep under control. Sold by individual bare-root vine. These now ship like berries, as they do not need a tree box. Non-taxable.
