Hydroponics and more Since its development in the 1970s, rockwool has become a major vegetable and flower production medium. Made from basalt rock that is heated and spun into cotton candylike fibers. Heated to temperatures in excess of 1600˚ F, thus creating a chemically and biologically inert product, free of pathogens. Great capacity for absorbing nutrient solutions while retaining plenty of oxygen for rapid plant growth, ensuring even distribution of roots. Each cube comes with a planting hole and is individually wrapped in UV resistant plastic on 4 sides to hold the block together. The base of the growing blocks are grooved to promote drainage.
