Bromus mollis
Cool season cover crop. Most utilized seed in California for erosion control, forage production, and wildfire seeding. Easily established with an extensive root system and outstanding reseeding ability. Grows well to 2' on low fertility sites, from sea level to 4,000' in areas with over 10" rainfall. Though it does not fix Nitrogen, Blando is excellent as a reseeding annual cover crop in orchards and vineyards because of its ability to withstand excessive mowing and its minimal water requirements. Plant in fall at 1—2 lb/1000 sq ft or 10—20 lb/acre. (No inoculant needed.)
