Vicia dasycarpa
Certified Organic. Cool season legume cover crop. Lana is the earliest maturing vetch. It fixes up to 275 lb/acre of Nitrogen and grows to 36" in dense stands. It is cold-hardy (to 10°F) and tolerates infrequent mowing for frost management. It puts on most of its growth as the soil warms in Spring, fully maturing in mid to late May. It needs 10"+ annual rainfall and is suited for all soils below 3,000Õ. Plant at 1-3 lb/1,000 sq ft or 60-80 lb/acre. (Raw seed, requires Garden Combination Inoculant.)
