Raphanus sativus Annual Also known as Lady Finger, White Icicle's uniform, slim 4"—6" x .5"—1" roots taper to a point and have a very slender taproot. The flesh is crisp, mild, and white. The 5"—6" tops are good to eat. This standard long, white type is easy to force, matures midseason, and holds quality well. Soil & Water: Radishes prefer well-drained soil with plenty of added organic matter. They have low nutrient requirements; especially avoid excess nitrogen to promote good root development. Preferred soil pH is 6.0—7.0. Planting & Growing: Cool weather is needed for best development. Sow seed directly wherever there is extra space in the garden. Radishes make good, living row markers for slower germinating crops like carrots. Harvesting & Storage: A mid— to late—season variety. Harvest whenever large enough to use. Store in cool, moist conditions. Did You Know? Radishes are a great source of vitamin C. Sun/Shade: Full sun, Planting Depth: 1/2", Spacing After Thinning: 4"—6", Soil Temperature: 45—90°F, Days To Germinate: 4—12, Days To Maturity: 21—32, Height At Maturity: 5"—6" Seeds/unit 19385
