Planting & Care

Soil & Water: Grow in fine soil and keep evenly moist. Fertilize (liquid) every two weeks.

Planting & Growing:Sow in finely worked soil in full sun in early spring or late summer. Sow seed about 1 inch apart and cover evenly with 1/4 inch of fine soil. Firm gently and water with a fine mist. It is important to thin seedlings to about 4-5 inches apart to provide room for heads to form. May be transplanted into pots or borders for color accents (approximately 3 full heads to an 8 inch pot or 10 heads in a windowbox of 9x12 dimension).

Harvesting & Storage:Use early thinnings in salads or transplant. Harvest mature heads when firm and well filled out. Discard heads if they elongate due to heat as they will become bitter.
