Famous crisp and juicy sweet onion that is mild enough to be eaten raw. Light brown skin, light flesh. They are relatively low in sulfur, making their flavor very mild. Since their water content is about 85%, they are juicy. However, because of these traits, their storage capacity is limited to just a couple of months. Unless you have atmosphere-controlled coolers to extend their market season, they must be considered seasonal and perishable. Very cold hardy. (100-125 days)

The best onions are grown from transplants set out in October-November and wintered over to mature in June-July. All of our transplant varieties are intermediate day (day neutral) which are best planted in the fall where winter temperatures stay above 0 F. Plant transplants right away, if possible. If you must wait, do not be alarmed if the roots & tops begin to dry out. As a member of the lily family, the onion can live for about 3 weeks off the bulb. Transplants are happy if you apply a light mulch to help conserve moisture for uniform growth.
You should read this before you order! Order transplants early because supply is limited and only available between mid-October and mid-November. They are perishable and must ship as soon as they are harvested, so your order cannot be canceled unless we locate another buyer. Also, the varieties & quantities you order may not become available at the same time, so plan to accept delivery as plants become available. This can result in additional shipments of back-ordered items at a higher cost, so inform us when you order if you will not accept any adjustments to shipping charges, so that any backorders will automatically be canceled. Sorry, we cannot make any special exceptions. Transplants ship separately, so figure shipping separately. Sold in 1 lb increments. Shipping weight = net weight of product + 10%.
AVAILABLE TO SHIP MID-OCTOBER TO MID-NOVEMBER. For additional product, shipping & availability information, see below. Due to quarantine issues, we cannot ship this product to Idaho.
