Lolium multiflorum Cool season cover crop. Often used for quick cover or erosion control because it germinates and grows quickly in cool weather, competes well with weeds, and opens and stabilizes the soil with its extensive, fibrous root system. When used for cover crop or pasture, Ryegrass is usually mixed with annual legumes for Nitrogen fixation and improved palatability. Grows in any soil but it will not tolerate long periods of flooding. Grows to 3'. Plant in fall or spring at 0.5-2 lb/1000 sq ft. or 25-50 lb/acre. (No inoculant required)
