Cucumber - Parisian Gherkin - Cucumis sativus

Tender Annual French heirloom gherkin cucumber with bright green skin with dark green spots, firm flesh and few seeds. Very uniform shape, great for pickling.

Soil and Water: Plants need well-drained soil and will benefit from added compost or well composted manure. Watering should be moderate until flowering and then heavier as the fruits develop up until harvest

Planting and Growing: Cucumbers benefit from good air circulation and a mulch to keep moisture even. Sow indoors 3 weeks before last frost. If direct seeding, plant 5-6 seeds per hill two weeks after the last frost. Thin to the strongest 3 plants in hill. Plants can be trellised or run on the ground.

Harvesting & Storage: Fruits can be harvested at any desired size, from 1.5" - 5" and eaten fresh or made into pickles. Pick continuously to keep vines productive.

Did You Know? A gherkin is a pickle from a cucumber picked small and also a particular species of cucumber. More crunchy than other pickles, gherkin pickles can be sweet or tart.
