Trifolium pratense Cool season legume cover crop. Trifolium pratense Includes later maturing varieties of red clover, and is also called Mammoth Red Clover. It is a short-lived perennial legume that usually makes one cutting per season. Its globe shaped, pink flower is attractive to bees, while the stems and elongated leaves are softly pubescent. Has a large root system, and is adapted to a wide range of soil pH and likes high calcium soils. Does not tolerate saturated soils. Grows 18-24 tall. Seed at 10-15 lb/acre, - deep, in spring or fall depending on climate, tolerates cold well once established. Raw seed, requires Alfalfa-Clover inoculant
