Peonies are very long-lived plants and selection of site is important. Give peonies full sun and good soil. When planting a peony, the depth is particularly important. To ensure flowering, the eyes must be planted 1 to 2 inches below ground level with the eyes (buds) pointing up. An annual topping of compost is recommended each Fall.
