the ONE tool I use for nearly every gardening task

This planting hoe is the only tool that's sitting on my knee pad by the kitchen door. It's the only one I use for just about everything. The long, sharp blade cuts through earth and roots quickly and effortlessly. I use it mostly for planting and transplanting. Within seconds you made a hole to plop in a plant, and taking one out is even faster. I even use it to make seed rows and digging out the occasional weed. Or scraping over the surface as long as the weeds are tiny.
Only when I need a really big hole do I take my shovel (and sometimes a pickaxe for dislodging rocks) from the garden shed, but this little hoe is the one I reach for anything else. The best, most useful tool I have.

defective handle design

Bought late season last year. Started to weed with it this week and the handle cracked in 15 minutes. The slot cut in the handle to hold the metal is too long and results in a weak handle, prone to break. If you are good with a drill, rivet gun and have enough handle left after the head breaks off, (as I did) you can repair and keep using the tool. If not, buy something else.

This is my favorite tool

Great tool for digging up difficult weeds. Be careful not to try and pry up a really big weed, I cracked the handle doing this. But my fault, not the tool. I highly recommend it as a great all around tool for the garden.

First tool I reach for

I use this tool more than any other hand tool in my garden. Great for digging up big weeds, scraping off new weeds coming up ... only draw back, the handle could be a bit stronger; mine cracked while trying to pry up a weed.

I LOVE this tool! It's great for creating rows to plant seeds. My favorite use though is to weed! You give the base of the weed a whack with the awesomely sharp tip and lever the hoe back and the whole weed pulls right out! I would've given 5 stars, but the lower pin that holds the blade in the wood handle fell out the other day. I was able to fix it though.
