A landscape designer's favorite! There are so many uses for this Japanese-made tool but our favorite is for planting bulbs! This tool is used to make trenches for planing seeds and replanting bedding plants. In addition, it is also used to establish irrigation channels. The blade is forged steel pinned to the wood handle. Blade is 2" wide and 5.5" deep. Length of tool is 15".
Bought late season last year. Started to weed with it this week and the handle cracked in 15 minutes. The slot cut in the handle to hold the metal is too long and results in a weak handle, prone to break. If you are good with a drill, rivet gun and have enough handle left after the head breaks off, (as I did) you can repair and keep using the tool. If not, buy something else.Review by Ken (on 4/4/15)
Great tool for digging up difficult weeds. Be careful not to try and pry up a really big weed, I cracked the handle doing this. But my fault, not the tool. I highly recommend it as a great all around tool for the garden.Review by Susan (on 9/4/14)
I use this tool more than any other hand tool in my garden. Great for digging up big weeds, scraping off new weeds coming up ... only draw back, the handle could be a bit stronger; mine cracked while trying to pry up a weed.Review by Suzanne (on 5/25/14)
I LOVE this tool! It's great for creating rows to plant seeds. My favorite use though is to weed! You give the base of the weed a whack with the awesomely sharp tip and lever the hoe back and the whole weed pulls right out!

I would've given 5 stars, but the lower pin that holds the blade in the wood handle fell out the other day. I was able to fix it though.Review by Kristen (on 5/18/13)
