Winter Squash - Harvest Mix - Cucurbita

Tender annual A delicious mix of the most popular and well-loved winter squash. Burgess Buttercup are flattened turban-shaped squash with a hard dark green rind and sweet, orange, stringless flesh. Spaghetti squash is yellow and oblong with stringy, spaghetti-like flesh. Butternut is the classic sweet and nutty winter squash that makes an amazing Fall soup.

Soil & Water: Provide squash plants with deep mounds of organic matter, rich soil, and heavy, even water. rich garden soil, and ample fertilizer. The soil should be well drained.

Planting & Growing: Sow indoors 3-4 weeks before last frost or direct sow when soil temperatures reach 70F. Train vines to go in the direction you want them to go. Carefully, and slowly, turn vines as needed. Move them a little each day. They use a lot of space!

Harvesting & Storage: Harvest when stems begin to shrivel or when the skin hardens. Cut squash from the vine leaving 2"-3" of stem attached. Allow to cure for 10 days to finish hardening the skins. Store in cool, dry conditions. To minimize the spread of rots, store in a single layer and do not allow squash to touch.
