Flower Sprouts™ - Brussels Sprouts x Kale - Brassica oleracea
Annual F1 Hybrid. Flower Sprouts™ are a new cross between Brussels sprouts and Kale. They grow on a stalk like Brussels sprouts but open up like Kale. They look like flowers growing out of the stalks, and taste delicious when lightly sauteed or steamed. Add Flower Sprouts™ to your cool season garden.
Soil and Water: Grow in rich soil high in organic matter and nitrogen, with a pH above 6.0. They preform best with consistent moisture.
Planting and Growing: Best grown as a fall crop. Sow in flats 4-5 weeks before transplant.
Harvesting and Storage: After frost through December, or all winter where cold is not severe. Pick firm, well-formed sprouts. Break off the leaf below the sprout and snap off the sprout. Lowest sprouts mature first. Before ground freezes pull plant up by roots, store in cold cellar 4-6 weeks.
