Hungry Composting Worms

Charles Darwin said, "All the fertile areas of this planet have at least once passed through the bodies of earthworms."

Redworms, Eisenia foetida, will eat half their body weight daily in organic matter and convert it into dark, soil-enriching castings full of live microorganisms and nutrients. They can tolerate considerable heat but prefer an outdoor temperature range of 32°F- 84°F. They are most active at temperatures between 60°F- 70°F.

***Worms are unable to ship if temperatures are over 90 Degrees due to them being a living organism needing to survive in cooler temperatures so this may delay shipping especially during the Summer season. ***

Redworms absolutely require a moist, friable, pesticide-free environment with plenty of organic matter. Although this species of worm is intended for composting, you may "plant" 4 worms/square foot in lawns and gardens, 100 or more worms/square foot in compost piles, and 20 worms/square foot of dripline in orchards. Keep in mind these worms are not earthworms and are much smaller than those. They are composting worms and perform as such.

Price includes delivery via Priority Mail (US Postal Service) either to your mailbox, or to a Post Office box.

Redworms will ship within 5 business days of your order. You can also request a delayed delivery in the Order-Specific Comments box. We can only accept ship dates up to three weeks out. Vendor may delay shipment due to weather concerns.

These creatures will die if left in direct sunlight or in a rural mailbox on a hot afternoon, or in cold weather.

We only guarantee viability if someone accepts and inspects the insects immediately upon delivery. You must contact us immediately upon delivery if you suspect a viability problem. Because of this, often the best address to use is a work address. If the Post Office is instructed to leave the package in a cool, safe place and it’s for a short period of time, viability should not be compromised, but cannot be guaranteed. If no one is available and no instructions have been left, delivery may be re-attempted the next business day. However, viability may be compromised and will not be guaranteed.

    Dead Worms

The worms were really really small and I would say over 75% of the worms were dead. I put them in the ground but I have never seen a worm.
Think I'll try the bait shop the next time

    THOSE WORMS WORK!!

This is my first time vermicomposting, after 20 days I can see the black gold building up, they tripled it size, it is amazing, my kids (5 and 6 yo) are very involved in the process, they love to feed the worms, definitely they see them as pets, it is a win win situation for us, a pet that I don't have to clean after and give outstanding benefits make me happy

    Nice worms

I have to say I was very pleased with the worms. The arrived in moist coconut coir looking good. I will say the first couple of days they tried to escape, I’d find lots of worms on the edge of the bin, but I double checked moisture and made sure they had some grit and snacks. (Pulverized eggshells & melon rind, with some coffee grounds.) and they soon settl d right in.
