Description

Larkspur - French Parisian Pink (Heirloom) - Delphinium consolida

Hardy Annual - Parisian Pink is a striking, florist-quality Larkspur imported from France. The strong plants send up branching 3 - 5' tall spires packed with rich shades of rose-pink double blossoms with just a hint of salmon hue. A truly lovely display that shines beautifully as a bouquet or mixes happily with other spring flowers. These sturdy plants with lacy foliage open new flowers continuously, providing a long bloom season through late spring and early summer.

Soil & Water:Sow in well drained garden soil in spring as soon as soil can be worked (cold winter areas) or in the fall (mild winter areas). Maintain moisture during germination. Cut blooming stalks throughout season for continued flowering.

Planting & Growing: Cover 1/2" deep, keep moist and provide a strong light source. After seedlings are well established, thin to 10-1/2" apart. Keep well weeded.

Planting & Care

Planting: In mild winter climates, sow seeds in late fall to germinate and form deep roots over the winter for a long spring bloom. In cold winter areas, sow seed as early in spring as soil can be worked. Larkspur can handle frosts and blooms best when plants get a good start in cool spring weather. Sow seeds 1" apart in well-drained soil in full sun. Cover 1/2" deep, firm soil and keep seedbed moist. Be patient; germination takes 14 - 21 days. After seedlings are well established, about 2 - 3" tall, thin to 10 - 12" apart to allow for good air circulation and discourage disease. Keep plants well watered and weeded for best performance.

Growing: Sow seed early when weather is still cool to get sturdy plants that will provide many weeks of elegant and beautiful flowers. Cut flowering stalks before individual florets begin to drop for graceful indoor bouquets, or air-dry indoors for everlasting arrangements. Larkspur will continue to bloom well into summer if faded flowers are removed.
