Planting & Care
Soil & Water: Grow in fine soil and keep evenly moist. Fertilize (liquid) every two weeks.
Planting & Growing:Sow in finely worked soil in full sun in early spring or late summer. Sow seed about 1 inch apart and cover evenly with 1/4 inch of fine soil. Firm gently and water with a fine mist. Gradually thin seedlings to about 10-12 inches apart. Sow additional seeds every two seeks until summer heat arrives. Provide shade and daily water when hot.
To extend season, sow seeds into containers in light shade and transplant into garden, providing light shade for a few days.
Harvesting & Storage:Use early thinnings in salads. Harvest mature heads when solid and well filled out. Discard heads if they elongate due to heat as they will become bitter.
