This is a really well designed tool. It is lightweight and well balanced with a sliding pull handle that allows you to keep both hands on the pole while making the cut. My old long reach pruner had a rope pull attached to the cutting head. When I tried to reach up into a tree to cut a branch, the rope was always getting caught on a branch and the cutting head wouldn’t open or close to make the cut. I had to keep maneuvering to get a clear path to the branch. Even then, I often couldn’t get a good angle to cut the branch close to the trunk. The fiskars doesn’t have a rope. Instead, it has a flat band that is inside of the aluminum and fiberglass pole and a chain that is flush against the pruner head which pulls the cutting blade, so there is nothing to get in the way while you make the cut. Another great feature is that the cutting head on the fiskars can rotate up to 230-degrees for getting the perfect pruning angle. It can cut branches up to 1” in diameter. And it comes with a 15” saw blade that can be attached to the pruner, although I haven’t used that yet.

I used this and had to have one. No more tangled cords, where you spend half your time trying to untangle the pull cord just to cut the branch. The pruning head articulates which is amazing for getting to the branch at the right spot. Love this pruner! (Posted on 10/12/12)
