The seeds are finicky and decide when they want to sprout. I planted last September as our growing season for lettuce is winter and spring- they didn't sprout until January, but it was worth the wait. It's a very beautiful variety with a mild flavor. Exceptionally pretty mixed with oak leaf green lettuce and edible flowers. The more sun it get's the darker and more opaque the merlot hue becomes. The color is more of a burgundy to deep wine red or a burgundy variegated with green. It bolted very quickly though. I will grow this again and hope for better luck with a faster germination.
