Basil - Spicy Globe - Ocimum basilicum
Annual Spicy Globe is a compact, bushy, mounding basil that grows to 6"-10". This basil has small leaves about 1/4" long with a delicious spicy flavor. The globe shape of this basil and its short stature make it an attractive container plant or a part of an ornamental border or planting.
Soil and Water: Basil grows well in moist, rich soil with added organic matter and excellent drainage.
Planting and Growing: Sow indoors 4-6 weeks before last frost or direct sow outdoors after danger of frost has passed in pots or in warm soil. Pinch the tips to encourage bushiness, and remove flower stalks so that the plant energy goes into the leaves. Chill-sensitive, does not grow well below 50°F.
Harvesting and Storage: Pick fresh leaves to use at any time or pick and dry when leaves are at their peak for later use. Can also be stored as frozen pesto.
