Tender annual Pole Snap. Also called Asparagus Bean. Fast-growing, high-yielding vining bean from subtropical Asia that thrives in the heat. Each vine yields dark green, slender pods that contain 10-20 black seeds. These sweet, crunchy pods are stringless and wonderfully unique.
Soil & Water: Legumes like well-drained soil rich in organic matter and a moderate amount of nutrients. Water lightly at planting, medium at flowering, and heavily throughout harvest time. Avoid overhead watering which can promote disease.
Planting & Growing: Sow directly in garden when soils have warmed and danger of frost has passed. Keep seedbed evenly moist.
Harvesting & Storage: Harvest no later than pencil thickness, should be eaten fresh. These beans can also be frozen.
