PLEASE READ THIS IMPORTANT INFORMATION
When placing your bare root orders, please be aware that AS SOON as the trees/plants are available to ship (Dec. for trees, Jan. for plants), we will begin shipping IMMEDIATELY - no matter where you are located !!!
There are several factors why we must ship immediately:
ATTENTION "POLAR VORTEX" AFFECTED CUSTOMERS
When your order arrives, you should remove it from the outside elements before nightfall. If you will not be present at the destination when the order will be delivered, you should either ship the order to another location or make sure someone will be there to take care of your order.
While your order is hardy enough to withstand freezing temperatures in its box, you definitely should not leave it outside in sub-zero temperatures for days on end.
AS IMPORTANTLY, you then need to open the box, remove the trees/plants from their plastic bag, store them in a basement, cellar or garage, covering their roots with sand, dirt, sawdust or wood chips (do not use cedar that is toxic to the trees) and keep them moist until you are able to plant them in the ground in Spring.
We sell premium quality trees from Dave Wilson Nursery! If this is your first time ordering a bare root tree, you should know that they come 'dormant': they will look like sticks with roots. Give them the right care and they will thrive. Fruit and nut trees are 5/8" diameter and 4'-5' tall unless otherwise noted. All are grown on semi-dwarf rootstock unless otherwise noted. This is preferred because a mature height of 1/2 to 3/4 of standard tree size makes harvesting much easier. Before shipping, trees are topped and roots are enclosed in a plastic bag with a small amount of wet pine shavings to keep the roots moist during shipment.
Figs, Pomegranates, Citrus, Olives and Avocados will be shipped in tree sleeves and measure about 18"-36” tall from the bottom of the pot to the top of the tree, and are approximately 1/8”–1/4” diameter (measured just above the graft). Olive, citrus and avocado trees are evergreen. These trees do not fare well in "bare root" conditions, thus they are sold in pots.
All our dormant trees (except Pecan trees) come with a limited replacement guarantee.
For best success, be sure to choose a tree that will grow in your USDA zone, has an appropriate number of chill hours for your climate. If a pollinator is needed, make sure they're planted within 50 feet of each other and will bloom at the same time. Finally, what are your desired harvest intervals (all at once for canning or spread out for fresh eating)? Buy any 10 bare root fruit trees, and we'll ship them for FREE! (To continental US - excludes potted fruit trees. Since Nut and Multi-graft trees are much larger, they count as 2 trees when calculating box capacity.)
We lowered our flat rate shipping to just $20 per tree box (if ordering less than 10 trees or a full box)
