Planting & Care
Soil & Water: Grow in fine soil and keep evenly moist. Fertilize (liquid) every two weeks.
Planting & Growing:Sow in finely worked soil in full sun in early spring or late summer. Sow seed about 1 inch apart and cover evenly with 1/4 inch of fine soil. Firm gently and water with a fine mist. Thin seedlings to about 5 inches apart to allow heads to form. Sow additional seeds every two seeks until summer heat arrives. Provide shade and daily water when hot.
May be grown or transplanted into containers or windowboxes.
Harvesting & Storage: Thinnings may be used for early salads. Harvest mature heads when firm and well filled out. Discard heads if they elongate due to heat as they will become bitter.
