Description

Certified Organic & Non-GMO Seed Potatoes

Viking Purple has all the characteristics of its parent Viking Red, but it has a true purple skin with pink-red splashes. Perhaps its most remarkable attribute is its waxy, snow-white flesh. Drought-resistant and a yielder of large tubers, its unique taste is loved by many and will get sweeter with time.

Guarantee

We guarantee the perishable items we sell to be in good, viable condition when we sell them. Perishable items include, but are not limited to, garlic bulbs, flower bulbs, seed potatoes, onion sets & transplants, bare-root trees, vegetable crowns… etc. If your perishable item arrives in substandard condition, take photographs and please contact us within 3 days of the purchase date (or delivery date) and we will provide you with a refund of the purchase price (excluding shipping costs), or a replacement. Accordingly, we urge you to open any boxes marked as “Perishable” immediately upon receiving them and inspect the shipment thoroughly (do not crack open heads of garlic, we do not accept claims on cracked garlic). Because some perishable items can deteriorate very quickly, we cannot accept any claims beyond the 3-day time frame as it becomes too difficult to determine if these items were delivered in substandard condition, or if they turned into such substandard condition because of having been improperly cared for or stored once delivered.

Reviews

Best tasting potato we\'ve ever had.

These potatoes tasted amazing. Nice thin dark purple skin. I made mashed potatoes with ours and watched my sons eyes get huge when he tasted them. We ended up eating the entire harvest, didn't think to save any to replant. Cannot wait to be able to order more seeds.

Good Yield of Large Potatoes

I just harvested my Viking Purple potatoes, what an interesting colored potato. Most were huge, as big as a baseball or bigger. Very few smaller than an egg. They had very soft skins compared to Norland Red, and we had a few that were split. I'm not sure what caused the splitting, but this was the only type that did it. We planted 1lb of this type to try them and I yielded 42lbs. We were able to put in about a 15' row in with 1lb of seed potato, which was average for the 6 types we tried from Peaceful Valley this year. The yield was also average in comparison to the other 5 types we planted.
