Vicia villosa Cool season legume cover crop.

Best of all vetches for cold climates. Tolerates temperatures below 0°F if planted early enough to get established, and goes dormant in cold weather making most of its growth in late spring. For this reason, in milder climates it is not as vigorous as other vetches but can still give high yields if allowed to fully mature in late May.

Gross Name, awesome product

Ordered this to try to correct a novice mistake (bare garden ground over winter + no til gardening!) -- We planted it just as directed, filling in some bare spots around some peppers that we've (desperately) planted in the hopes of the garden producing SOMETHING this year -- within about 3 days we had a very pretty ground cover, 2 weeks later, our "Desperation plants" are thriving! This plant does have a gross sounding name, but it's working like magic.
