Perennial desert plant of the American SW, usually found at low to mid elevations among rocks, under pines and in dry washes. Growing 1-3 feet tall and producing 1 to 1.5 inch long, tubular, greenish-white flowers in terminal clusters, it is a wonderful plant from a magical landscape. The leaves are sticky, covered with glandular hairs, loaded with nicotine and anabasine, and may attain a good size, sometimes as long as six inches.

Soil & Water: Plant prefers full sun and very fast draining, even rocky, soil. Bottom watering is best for germination and transplants.
Planting & Growing:Sow in spring. Press tiny seeds into surface of potting soil and keep evenly moist until germination. Light must be consistent as well as warm temperatures. Space 1 to 2 feet apart.
Harvesting & Storage:Leaf cuttings may be made at 2 week intervals. Branches may be cut and hung for drying. Care must be made in drying as too quickly and flavor and aroma suffer, while too slow molds may affect.
