Organic Pea, Oregon Sugar Pod (1/2 lb)

The Most Popular Snow Pea

Pea - Oregon Sugar Pod II - Pisum sativum var. macrocarpon

Hardy Annual Oregon Sugar Pod is the most popular snow pea. Its productive, dwarf vines have stringless, edible pods which keeps producing after three pickings! It's tolerant of short hot spells. This pea is great for freezing, for eating fresh, or for adding to stir-fries and salads.

Did You Know? If space is a problem, this low-growing dwarf can be sown in the flower garden.

Soil & Water: Peas are not particular about soil, but prefer those with plenty of added organic matter and a pH of 5.5-6.8. Provide moderate water until bloom, then lower the water rate.

Planting & Growing: Peas perform best in cool weather between 60-75F; growing season may be extended using shade cloth or frost fabrics. Presoak seeds to help prevent disease and to speed germination. Oregon Sugar Pod peas are resistant to pea enation virus, wilt, and powdery mildew.

Harvesting & Storage: Peas are usually ready for harvest about 3 weeks after the flower appears and before peas are fully developed in the pods. This variety is best when the pods are 4" long. Regular picking extends production.
