Planting & Care

Soil & Water: Broccoli should be planted in well-composted soil with good drainage and air circulation. Plants prefer a soil pH of 6.0-7.2.

Planting & Growing: Start indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost or seed directly 4 weeks before last frost, or seed directly in late summer for fall/winter crops.

Harvesting & Storage: Harvest when small heads have formed, before yellow flowers appear. Side heads are produced in abundance after the winter. Flavor improves with cooler temperatures. Use shade fabric to extend summer harvests.
