Celery - Tall Utah - Apium graveolens var. dulce

Biennial Tall Utah is a crisp, stringless green celery with tightly folded hearts, and broad, thick, well-rounded stalks. It is a vigorous grower without getting flimsy. This is a popular green celery for late use.

Did You Know? Celery leaves are also edible and tasty, and contain significant amounts of vitamin A.

Soil & Water: Celery requires rich, loamy soil and heavy, consistent water and patience. Incorporate lots of organic matter into the soil to help hold moisture. Avoid overhead watering which can collect between the stalks and promote disease and pest problems.

Planting & Growing: Start seeds indoors 10 weeks before the last frost and transplant only after day temperatures stay consistently above 55°F. Seed directly when the soil has reached at least 60°F. To enjoy celery all winter, transplant a few plants into large pots and overwinter them in a cool place, watering as needed.

Harvesting & Storage: Harvest stalks from the outside of the plants whenever they are large enough, or you can harvest the entire plant by cutting them at the soil line. For best flavor and longest storage, water the plants the day before harvest.

Reviews

Fantastic and it lives up to it's name; it is tall!

I don't know Dave and don't want to. This is not Trader Joe's! This celery is excellent. Grows easy and gets very tall. It is true, it is not stringy. Try it, you'll enjoy growing this specimen.

Great flavor

Great flavor, but had a very long growing season and never really got to its full potential

sucks

My wife brought home organic celery from trader joes. I'm guessing it's the same wherever you get it. Dry. Stringy. Like eating straw. Stick to the celery from Costco.
