Organic Cauliflower, Snowball (1/4 lb)

Organic Cauliflower, Snowball (1/4 lb)

Downy Mildew Resistant Variety

Cauliflower - Snowball - Brassica oleracea (Botrytis group)

Annual Heirloom. Snowball cauliflower's large 6"-7" snow-white heads are well protected by outer leaves. This reliable strain is heavy yielding and produces smooth white curds with a uniform appearance. It is downy mildew resistant.

Did You Know? Cauliflower is an excellent source of vitamins C, K, B6, and folate.

Soil & Water: Cauliflower prefers nearly neutral soils rich in organic matter. Water moderately and evenly. Cauliflower can be sensitive to boron deficiencies. Lime the soil to a pH of 7.0 or higher in areas with clubroot problems.

Planting & Growing: To ensure plump heads, time indoor sowing so that plants are no more than 5 weeks old at transplant time. Sow outdoors when soil temperatures are at least 60°F. While cauliflower requires growing conditions similar to broccoli and cabbage, it can be more difficult to grow. Any interruption in growth due to underwatering or underfertilization can cause the plant to prematurely set a small, unusable head.

Harvesting & Storage: To improve flavor and color, blanch developing heads by folding and securing a few leaves over the head. Harvest while heads are tight and compact, 4-14 days after tying up the leaves.

Soil Temperature: 60-80°F
Planting Depth: 1/4"-1/2"
Germination: 6-14 Days
Height At Maturity: 20"-26"
Days To Maturity: 52-70 Days
Sun/Shade: Full Sun
Spacing After Thinning: 15"
Approx Seeds per Pack: 18,900 Seeds
