Seascape Strawberry Plants by the Box (1500)

Everbearing Strawberry Excellence

(Fragaria x ananassa 'Seascape') stand as a notable strawberry cultivar, recognized for its exceptional attributes and horticultural adaptability.

Seascape Strawberry plants are herbaceous perennials, displaying vigorous growth habits. These compact plants typically attain a height of 6-12 inches (15-30 cm) with a substantial spread of approximately 18-24 inches (45-60 cm). The foliage consists of rich green, compound leaves, each comprising three serrated leaflets. This dense foliage forms a rosette at the base of the plant.

The fruit of Seascape Strawberries is medium-sized and predominantly conical in shape. They boast a glossy, radiant red exterior when fully ripe, adding to their visual allure.

Understanding the optimal growing conditions for Seascape Strawberries is instrumental in nurturing their potential. These strawberries flourish under full sun exposure, although they tolerate partial shade. The pinnacle of fruit production is achieved with a minimum of 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily.

Soil quality assumes paramount importance. Well-draining, fertile soil with a pH range favoring slight acidity to neutrality (around 6.0-6.5) is conducive to their growth. Meticulous soil preparation is essential to promote robust growth and fruit production. Consistent soil moisture is vital, necessitating regular and even watering to maintain an appropriate moisture balance.

Harvesting Seascape Strawberries is an exercise in precision. Ripe strawberries exhibit a uniform, vivid red hue, a pleasing aroma, and a readiness to detach effortlessly from the stem with a gentle tug. Employing appropriate harvesting techniques preserves the fruit's quality and flavor.

Seascape Strawberry Plants, distinguished for their flavor, disease resistance, and everbearing nature, exemplify the harmonious blend of botanical elegance and horticultural adaptability. Cultivating this esteemed variety promises a sensory and gastronomic experience, catering to the preferences of experienced horticulturists and individuals beginning their gardening journey alike.

Strawberries are extremely adaptable and are grown in every state in the U.S. Plants generally grow 6-8" tall and 12" across, are shallow-rooted, and benefit from mulch such as straw, pine needles, or plastic. Prefer a soil rich in all the basic nutrients with a pH of 6 to 6.5. Susceptible to root rot and must be planted in well-drained soil, with crown set at soil level. Yield under the best of conditions is about one basket per plant per season.

June Bearers generally produce a single large crop in spring to early summer (as early as March in warmer regions) and are prolific producers for 3 to 4 weeks. Pick the blossoms off June bearers the first year to boost production the second year.

Everbearers are not as prolific as June bearers but are especially suitable for growers who wish to harvest a constant supply of berries throughout the summer. Plant some of both to have a large harvest to preserve, and plenty to eat all summer!
