Description

Peaceful Valley Irrigated Dairy Pasture Mix is a cool-season forage blend for productive irrigated pasture. Orchardgrass and three complementary ryegrasses provide palatable grass forage and recovery after grazing, while red, Palestine strawberry, and Ladino clovers add protein, seasonal diversity, and biological nitrogen fixation.

Plant in full sun on fertile, well-drained soil where irrigation can maintain growth through dry periods. Sow in early spring or late summer, using a firm, weed-free seedbed. Drilling provides consistent placement; broadcast seed should be lightly incorporated or rolled. Keep livestock off seedlings until plants are firmly rooted, then use rotational grazing and adequate recovery intervals to maintain the grass-legume balance.

This mixture is designed to support dairy forage production, but milk response, yield, protein, and year-round growth depend on fertility, irrigation, climate, grazing stage, and the rest of the ration. Because the blend contains clovers, normal livestock-bloat precautions remain appropriate.

  • Application rate: Drill at 25 lb per acre; broadcast at 30 lb per acre
  • Inoculant: No additional inoculant is normally needed; the clover seed is Nitrocoated with compatible inoculant.
  • Plant height: Up to approximately 3½ feet, depending on management
  • Contains: Orchardgrass, tetraploid perennial ryegrass, Tetrelite intermediate ryegrass, tetraploid annual ryegrass, red clover, Palestine strawberry clover, and Ladino clover

Note for certified organic growers: Nitrocoated seed is conventionally grown, non-GMO seed with no fungicide or insecticide seed treatment applied before coating. The coating contains certified organic powdered limestone, an organically approved binder, and an OMRI-approved peat-based inoculant, applied through an OMRI-approved process on a dedicated Nitrocoated-seed treatment line.
