Peaceful Valley Low-Growing Clover Mix - Nitrocoated Seed (lb)

A Resilient Ground Cover for Orchards, Vineyards, and Pathways

Low-growing clover mix for irrigated, mowed orchards and vineyards. Formerly called Tree & Vine Mix, this perennial legume cover crop delivers dependable soil improvement and durable ground cover in a variety of growing conditions.

Dual-Climate Adaptability

This blend combines Dutch white clover and Palestine strawberry clover, selected for adaptability, nitrogen-fixing power, and dense, weed-suppressing sod. Dutch white clover thrives in cool conditions and partial shade, while Palestine strawberry clover prefers warmth and full sun. Together they provide season-long performance across diverse climates and soil types with minimal maintenance.

Soil Health Benefits

Deep, fibrous roots help aerate compacted ground and improve water infiltration. As nitrogen-fixing legumes, these clovers work with soil microbes to enrich the soil naturally—reducing reliance on synthetic fertilizers.

Built for Traffic and Tough Conditions

Low-growing and resilient, this mix tolerates tractor and foot traffic—even in wet weather. It’s ideal under tree canopies, between vineyard rows, or in tight garden spaces where a hardy living cover is needed.

Why Grow Peaceful Valley Low-Growing Clover Mix?

  • Fixes nitrogen – Builds up to ~165 lb N/acre/year, reducing fertilizer needs
  • Improves soil structure – Roots aerate compacted soils and increase infiltration
  • Suppresses weeds – Dense, low habit shades out competition
  • Erosion control – Stabilizes soil on slopes and in high-traffic areas
  • Supports beneficial insects – Flowers provide nectar and habitat if allowed to bloom
  • Withstands traffic – Designed to tolerate tractor use, even in wet conditions

Tips for Best Results

Broadcast or drill in fall or spring on a firm seedbed. Monitor for slugs and gophers, as clovers may attract these pests. Ideal as a green manure, living mulch, or long-term orchard floor cover.

Note to Certified Organic Growers: All our cover crop seed is untreated and non-GMO. Although this is conventional seed, it is coated with Nitro-Coat, a specialized coating made with rhizobacteria, naturally water-absorbing calcium carbonate to speed germination, and an organic adhesive.

Overseeding my lawn

I'm trying this blend out to overseed my lawn. With the ongoing water issues locally. I wanted to reduce my summer water usage on my lawn. Rather than have a dead lawn. I'm trying to overseed with this so I can drastically reduce my water usage. Hope it works! I'll report back. The seed looks great and is sprouting already.
