This kit can be held for up to 2 weeks before activating.
Large, brown capped mushrooms reach 4"-8" across at maturity. Excellent taste, meaty.
Called crimini when young.
Fruits best at 60°F. Not sold in summer as temperatures are too hot for mushrooms to grow. Each kit grows several crops. Expect the first two crops to fill the box and subsequent crops will gradually get smaller until they stop. Easy to grow, designed for inside use, all you need to do is add water and harvest. Detailed instructions and recipes included. 12" x 10" x 8".

Nothing grew from my kit. I think I followed the directions on the sheet and in the video. I guess it was still too warm . If you can't maintain a temp at the low to mid range of what they suggest I wouldn't bother. It least it will make good compost. The shitaki kit though, did work.Review by NJW (on 11/15/14)
I love mushrooms, and like any food they are best fresh! This kit is super easy, and it is an affordable way to grow my own portabellas for the freshest possible mushroomsReview by Mary (on 5/25/14)
I was so scared to over-water after reading the instructions that I under-watered and only got 1 mushroom. It was big and tasty, though. I couldn't really see underneath it to see when it was ready, so I ended up not harvesting it until it was too old, although that didn't seem to affect the flavor much.Review by Casey (on 12/6/13)
