Brandywine Tomato Seeds (Organic)

Brandywine Tomato is a well-known Amish heirloom valued for large, meaty fruit and rich, sweet flavor. The deep pink tomatoes are suited to fresh eating, slicing, sandwiches, and salads. Fruits can reach about 16 ounces. Brandywine is an indeterminate variety that grows best in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil; provide a sturdy cage or stake for the large vines. Maturity is about 80 days, though timing varies with growing conditions.

Tomato – Red Brandywine – Lycopersicon lycopersicum

Tender annual. Indeterminate heirloom. Brandywine produces semi-flattened, deep pink to red fruit on large vines. Yield can be moderate and fruit size can vary, but the variety is prized for flavor. This Amish heirloom dates to the 1880s.

Soil & Water: Tomatoes grow best in fertile soil with organic matter and a pH of 5.5–7.0. Water deeply and consistently, adjusting frequency for soil, weather, and container conditions.

Planting & Growing: Sow seeds in flats 6-8 weeks before the last frost and thin to 2" apart after the first true leaves appear. Before transplanting after the last frost, harden off the plants by placing them outdoors for a few hours to start, increasing the amount of time each day until they are accustomed to a full day of sunlight.

Harvesting & Storage: Harvest when individual fruits give slightly under finger pressure; the shoulders may not have changed color yet.
