Collection: Frost Protection

Frost cloth, blankets, covers, hoops, and securing supplies.

Tomato plant covered by a white frost-protection tunnel

Frost blankets, floating row covers, protective bags, hoops, and fastening supplies can help reduce crop exposure during cold nights and sudden temperature drops. The right choice depends on the crop, expected low temperature, fabric weight, light transmission, and whether the cover will rest loosely over plants or be supported above them.

Choosing frost protection

  • Lightweight fabric: allows more light through and is suited to mild conditions or insect exclusion when the product is rated for that use.
  • Medium- and heavyweight fabric: provides more insulation but admits less light.
  • Plant covers and bags: offer convenient coverage for individual plants and containers.
  • Hoops, clips, and clamps: support fabric and help keep edges secured in wind.

Compare options in Floating Row Covers, or find installation hardware in Snap Fittings and Fabric Clips. Install covers before temperatures fall, extend the material to the ground, secure the perimeter, and follow the protection rating and directions on the selected product.
