Prepare for delivery
Choose the planting site, gather mulch and tools, and make a temporary holding plan in case weather prevents immediate planting.

On arrival
- Open the package promptly.
- Inspect the tree, roots, and graft union; photograph any significant concern.
- Keep the roots cool, shaded, and moist.
- Plant promptly or heel the tree in temporarily.
