Peaceful Valley Wood Fly Trap (Without Bait)
Natural Outdoor Fly Control (Bait Not Included)
Tired of swatting flies around your barn, coop, or garden? The Peaceful Valley Wood Fly Trap offers a simple, chemical-free way to reduce manure-breeding fly populations in outdoor spaces. Whether you’re managing a homestead, farm, or backyard chickens, this reusable trap provides a reliable, long-term solution for fly control.
Effective, Proven Design
Built on time-tested trap designs used by farmers for generations, this trap lures in flies and keeps them there. Just add a strong-smelling bait (such as apple cider vinegar or a homemade yeast mix), and the scent draws flies through the entry holes. Once inside, flies can’t find their way out—dramatically reducing adult fly populations.
- Targets manure-breeding flies like house flies—ideal for use around livestock, compost piles, or barns
- Large capacity—can capture up to 25,000 flies
- No chemicals or sprays—a safe solution for organic growers and animal lovers
Durable, Outdoor-Ready Construction
Crafted from sturdy, weather-resistant redwood, this trap is made to last. Designed and built in California exclusively for Peaceful Valley, it’s a long-lasting addition to any pest management setup.
- Solid redwood body designed for outdoor durability
- Easy to maintain—the hinged lid opens easily, allowing you to empty the trap without disassembly
- Reusable season after season
Use Your Own Bait
This version is sold without bait, giving you the flexibility to use your own attractants. For best results, we recommend:
- DIY bait mix: 2 lb. active dry yeast + 1 oz. ammonium carbonate (store in a sealed container)
- Or try apple cider vinegar, fermented fruit, or other strong-smelling ingredients that attract flies
Note: This trap is unlikely to attract fruit flies—it’s designed for house flies and other similar species.

It took a long time to ship and I patiently waited to receive it. Unfortunately, the trap is not working, flies are not being attracted by the bait (active dry yeast). Also, the trap I received does not look exactly like the one on the photo, mine has some open spaces at the top.
Works great. Started catching flies right away. There are now several hundred if not thousands in the trap now. This trap preferable for me than liquid bag traps as I have a small yard. The smell from the bait is way more tolerable and doesn't spread as far as the smell of rotting flies in the liquid bag traps. The flies dehydrate and stay dry. I have chickens and very few flies in the yard. Highly recommend. It's worth the price not to have the smell of decaying flies.
Was excited to see a short version of box shaped fly trap I remember from my youth. Works just as I remember and flies are filling it up.
I put it in an empty stall in the barn and it started catching flies right away. I’m very impressed. Neat design. We will leave it there until winter. Thank you. 😃
One of those rare products that exceeds expectations and even advertising. This thing has cleared out, I'm guessing, 5,000 flies from my backyard in 2 days, Twice last summer, and once, so far, this year. Might not need it again this year. It decimates their population. From "oppressive" to "I can't see a single fly" in 2 days.
Dog owners...plop this thing down over a dog poop and you will have nearly zero flies in 2 days!
Warning, a full trap is like something from a nightmare! ;) ;)
