Organic Mosquito Control

In this video, Tricia shares her tips on controlling mosquitoes, organically!

Effective Organic Mosquito Control for a Safe Summer

Mosquitoes can ruin outdoor fun and pose health risks by spreading diseases like West Nile virus. Luckily, you can control these pests naturally using nonchemical or label-directed methods. Here’s how to keep mosquitoes at bay using organic and integrated methods.

Eliminate Standing Water

Mosquitoes breed in standing water, so removing it is the first step in controlling them. Empty items like buckets, birdbaths, and plant saucers regularly to reduce breeding grounds.

Use Mosquito Barrier and Yard Net

Mosquito Barrier is a garlic-based spray subject to all label precautions concerning children, pets, and food plants. It kills adult mosquitoes and larvae and lasts two to four weeks, even after rain. Spray it generously around your yard to create a mosquito-free zone.

Yard Net is another effective product made from botanical oils with a pleasant citronella scent. Sprinkle it around your yard for a week of protection, making it an excellent option for camping trips.

Target Mosquitoes in Water Features

For ponds or water features, use Bt mosquito dunks. These contain Bacillus thuringiensis, a naturally occurring bacteria that targets mosquito larvae while reducing avoidable effects on other species.

Invite Natural Predators

Installing a bat house can significantly reduce mosquito populations. Large brown bats consume 3,000–7,000 mosquitoes per night. Supporting bats also helps preserve a species that is often misunderstood and endangered.

Safe Repellents for People and Pets

Botanical oil-based repellents are a great alternative to chemical sprays. Test on a small area of skin first and avoid using on children under three. For pets, use specially formulated repellents to protect them from mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas.

Enjoy a mosquito-free summer with these natural solutions. Protect your family, pets, and environment by choosing organic methods, and grow organic for life!
