Provide a Habitat for Beneficial Insects
Beneficial insects are a natural army of pest control allies and it is important to provide them with suitable living conditions if you expect their help. In order to reproduce, beneficial insects need nectar and pollen. If they do not find these in your field (and they are very particular about which flowers they want), they will leave and may not return.
We pioneered these seed mixes to create a beneficial insect habitat. We designed our mix to include plants that are proven hosts to specific wild as well as introduced beneficials, such as predatory mites and wasps, ladybugs, lacewings, syrphids, tachnids, predacious beetles and many more.
Good Bug Blend has been field-proven for over a decade in large and small scale growing areas. Since the mix blooms nearly year round, Good Bug Blend should be planted in areas which can go a little wild, such as field borders, ditchbanks, fence rows, etc.
- Generally, you need to plant only 1-5% of your land with this mix for good results.
- Drill or broadcast seed at 10-15 lb/acre .5 lb/1,000 sq ft in any but the coldest months of the year.
- Blooms begin 45-90 days after planting and will continue for years.
- Average height is 18" (but some plants can get as high as 6' depending on soil fertility, available moisture, or competition)
Contains the following seeds: Crimson Clover, Red Clover, Nungarin Subclover, Yellow Sweet Clover, Hykon Rose Clover, White Clover, Semi & Non Dormant Alfalfa, Coriander, Daikon Radish, Dill, Red Radish, Carrot, Calendula, California Buckwheat, Baby's Breath, Sweet Alyssum, White Yarrow, Caraway, Celery, Fennel, and Parsley.

I only planted a small amount as I purchased this late in the heat of summer. However, the small area I planted was very quick to grow and stayed green with normal watering. I expect to plant the rest in early spring.
This product is a great value, germinates under virtually any weather with a bit of water, and has attracted TONS of honeybees and solitary bees to my smal garden.
Bringing alot of good pollinators
I sowed this as a hedgerow in one of my gardens in early spring. Currently transitioning between garlic and my summer crops in late June. The good bug blend is 4-5 feet tall currently with lots of small white flowers and seed pods.
I recomended trellises as some plants are pretty fragile and bend over easily. I haven't used this for an entire summer season yet, but so far I haven't noticed a large increase in beneficial insects. While looking today, I found one ladybug(no larvae), and 3 rosettes with aphid colonies. I promptly removed and buried them away from the garden. These are the only aphids in the garden currently. In my experience, some plants are completely off the table for pests, while others can/do attract them. I was suprised to see so many aphids...
I do see plenty of bees visiting the flowers, but I won't keep the crop around just for bees as they'll visit any flowering plant. Time will tell, but I'll replace this area with lavender and other perennials that attract beneficial bugs and deter pests if I don't see a noticeable population increase of good bugs and/or notice more aphids colonizing.
Good bug mix is in the ground will start to see sprouts soon plenty of Rain so I think they will do well
