A “spring” type of triticale, which puts on more growth during cooler winter months than the Trios variety.

We planted late, following a very dry fall, and barely had the triticale in the ground by Halloween. We had maybe 10 days of rain this winter here in Central (coastal) California and plenty of frost-- but my field is packed with beautiful triticale that is, in places, 4.5 feet tall. Three months after emerging, it is sprouting seed heads and it's time to terminate well ahead of schedule. What a fantastic cover crop-- only the wild mustard was able to find sun in my triticale field.
